WAR MEMORIALS

Sculpted by Glenna Goodacre, the Vietnam Women's Memorial honors the 265,000 women who served during the Vietnam War. 11,000 of these were stationed in Vietnam, mostly as military nurses. Two views of the sculpture are shown, one at right and one at top.

The Korean War Veteran's Memorial.

The statues at left depict 19 soldiers marching over a field of Juniper bushes on patrol in Korea. This is perhaps the most prominent feature of the Korean War Veteran's Memorial. The Memorial also features a Pool of Remembrance and a Wall of Faces depicting photographs of people who served in Korea.

LINCOLN MEMORIAL

The Lincoln Memorial. Statue of Abraham Lincoln inside the Lincoln Memorial.

The pictures above were taken of the Lincoln Memorial. The memorial was constructed to rresemble a Greek temple, with 36 Doric columns, one for each state after the Cival War. The statue of Lincoln was sculpted by Daniel Chester French.
